During the cherry blossom season in 2024, strict control measures were implemented at the university gates and certain areas on campus. The control period was from March 18 to April 6 (subject to adjustment based on the end of the blooming period). The general public had to make reservations to enter the campus. Specifically, the university designated March 23 (Saturday) as a special day for high school students to view the cherry blossoms, and no reservations were accepted from the general public or alumni on that day. Additionally, the university recommended that the general public visit during off-peak times or choose other destinations to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
During the cherry blossom management period, the only way for the general public to enter the campus to view the cherry blossoms was through the university’s designated online reservation system, which required real-name registration and was free of charge.
The reservation period for entering the campus was from March 20 to April 6, with visiting hours from 08:30 to 17:30 on weekdays and 08:00 to 18:00 on weekends.
Starting at 20:00 on March 17, the general public could access the Wuhan University Cherry Blossom Reservation System through the university’s official website or official WeChat account. They could select the “Public Cherry Blossom Reservation Channel,” fill in their personal information such as name, ID card (or military ID, passport, etc.), and phone number, and make a reservation for a visit three days later.
The university did not accept reservations from any form of social groups. The daily reservation limit was 20,000 on weekdays and 40,000 on weekends. Starting from March 20, members of the public who successfully made a free reservation could enter the campus through designated channels after verifying their information to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
